Rodent Problems Milton Homeowners Notice
You may find evidence of mice or rats long before seeing one. The signs—and where they appear—help determine which parts of your home need attention.
Droppings in Kitchen Drawers
Small droppings near dry food, behind appliances, or beneath the sink often point to mouse activity. Finding more after safe cleanup may mean mice are still traveling through the area.
Scratching Behind Walls at Night
Quick movement, rustling, or chewing noises inside a wall can be unsettling. Mice often move through hidden spaces, but sound alone cannot establish which animal is responsible. Look for droppings or gnaw marks as supporting evidence.
Mice Returning After Trapping
You catch one mouse, but a week later find fresh droppings. Others may still be inside, or new mice may be entering through an overlooked opening. Catching a mouse doesn't automatically solve the source of the infestation.
Rats Around Garages or Sheds
Larger droppings, burrows, or chewed storage bags near a garage may suggest rat activity. A rat sighting outside does not necessarily mean rats have entered the living area. The inspection should establish where activity stops.
Chewed Packaging or Wiring
Mice and rats can gnaw food containers, stored items, and insulation. Suspected electrical wire damage needs attention from a qualified electrician, separate from rodent treatment.
Activity in Attics or Basements
Droppings near basement utilities or disturbed insulation in an attic may reveal travel routes or nesting areas. These spaces can connect to wall cavities and other rooms, so the first visible sign may not be where rodents entered.
